To put or not to put an adblock in your life? The answer depends on several factors: on one side are your needs as a user, as it can become annoying to see how ads appear continuously while you are viewing the contents on the web to which you have agreed to, but on the other hand there is a question ethics, and you're able to view a page for free thanks to advertising. But while you are thinking of this dilemma, I will propose a definitive list of Internet AdBlocks to help you if you decide to settle an ad blocker.
AdBlock Plus: The most popular! It is an extension of content filtering for the browser and your mobile phone, which can block the display of ads on websites. It is very popular among users, and very effectively hides all advertising content. This application aims to make Internet browsing more enjoyable, preventing you from seeing ads when playing videos from Youtube as well as Facebook ads and banners.
AdFender: Improves Internet experience by eliminating advertising from sites you navigate to. It is very effective and extremely configurable. The ads are identified and removed by filter lists. There are different types: generic, for specific languages, for privacy or focused on the risk of malware domains. Lists can be seen from the filters menu.
AdMuncher: One of the most powerful adkillers on the market thanks to an effective system of blacklists that can be edited to prevent pop-up ads. It also blocks music, videos, texts or even some wallpapers we deem annoying.
uBlock: The low power alternative. It is an extension that serves to block ads that appear on the network. It applies the same filters as AdBlock Plus, however, consumption of this application is reduced, which makes it more desirable for users with older computers. Its interface is not as intuitive as other extensions and requires more time to leave all options ready. It is worth a try.
AdBlockPro: This blocks most ads that you haven’t actually downloaded so you can still enjoy the contents that interest you and don’t have to spend so much time waiting for the desired website to be downloaded. No need to run personal information or your browsing tracks. If you want you can also make exceptions and allow the advertising to appear on the web sites you love. This extension for your browser directly removes ads of Youtube videos before you see them.
Safari AdBlock: This does not require any configuration, and there are endless lists of filters or regular expressions to handle and get it to work, etc. It just works. But for the most demanding, it does offer a preference panel from which you can customize filters and subscriptions, ie, the type of ads you see or not. For example, if you are only interested in advertising in Spanish, you can block all other languages. Although Safari AdBlock might change some of the pages design.
AdGuard AdBlocker: AdGuard is a very effective ad blocker, as well as AdBlock Plus. It already has compiled a list of suitable filters for Spanish and English, but you can add filters on EasyList for other languages. The best thing about this application is that you barely have to pay attention, it works in the background without consuming a lot of resources and destroys advertising quickly and effectively. But if you miss an advertisement, to get rid of it is quick, there is the "block ad on this page" and when active, you will never see the ad again.
Webmail Ad Blocker: This extension expands your field of email blocking and eliminating advertising that usually appears on the right side of your webmail account, when you use Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo Mail Outlook.com.
Firefox Ad Killer: With this extension you can rate advertising. In all this it appears like a thumb pointing up and down so you can decide whether you like it or not. AdBlock Edge: This feature was born because AdBlock Plus, since version 2.0, has an option called "allow some non-intrusive advertising." The criteria that marks which ads are intrusive and which can not be read on its website, as well as the list of advertising that is considered correct. AdBlock Edge reflects the original spirit of ad blockers: to avoid ads at all costs, regardless of whether they are acceptable or intrusive. Many users have changed from Plus to Edge because of the rumors that Google paid AdBlock Plus for its advertising to not be considered intrusive. Finally, it was learned that Google not only paid, but also other companies (just look at the above list of advertising considered correct). Everyone is free to choose the extent that interests you.
Trueblock Plus: This is a function that complements AdBlock Plus, avoiding the button "allowing some intrusive advertising". So it really manages to avoid all advertising.
AdBlockVideo: A Firefox extension that removes the ads that appear to play Youtube videos, a fact that is becoming more prevalent. It also works with other video platforms: Hulu, DailyMotion, CNN, Fox News and many more.
Facebook Adblock: After installing this extension for Google Chrome it adds a button to the right of the address bar. By clicking on it you can make ads appear or disappear that usually appear on the right side of the Facebook interface. Easy to use and no need to configure anything.
Consumers with advertising blocking extensions to their browser software or app's is now a reality for consumers. According to PageFair and Adobe, the ad-blocking has grown globally by 41% in the past 12 months and currently there are 198 million active users worldwide using adblock. For example, in the United States ad blocker software grew by 48% and had 45 million users in June 2015. The study projects that ad ad blockers cost advertisers $22,000 million in 2015. This forces us to reflect on marketers and brands to look for ways to reach our consumers without being invasive and with quality content, generating engagement and seducing users.
